ABOUT ME
GRAPHIC DESIGNER, ILLUSTRATOR & PHOTOGRAPHER
ARTISTIC STATEMENT
My thirst for knowledge and creativity forms my identity as a person and designer, fueling my curiosity about the world around me. Living in multiple countries throughout my life has created an ability to see the world through different lenses and an appreciation for all cultures. It developed a curiosity about the world and its history and a desire and determination to understand different perspectives and how to tell and deliver stories. This viewpoint was further nurtured with my background in television and photography and allowed me to immerse myself in a creative world of visual storytelling that eventually led me to graphic design (and Toronto Film School) and the opportunity to deliver art and meaning from a unique perspective.
Art and design is a way of understanding the world in a visual and universal language. It is a profound and powerful way of connecting with the audience. My goal, as a graphic designer, is to create pieces that have a deeper meaning and message for the audience, allowing an expression of an idea that is not only visually appealing but a source of information, allowing the audience to receive the message in a clear, entertaining, or unique way.
While it’s hard to determine a specific design style for my designs, I am influenced by modern art and design. However, I have a deep appreciation for traditional art and design, as it has power that can aid in telling a unique visual story. Growing up with a background in traditional art, illustration is a passion that has been developed since I was young. This passion and enthusiasm were further extended to photography and later still to manipulating images and when to incorporate them within design.
Graphic design is not limited, and creativity is endless. With an open and curious mind, I want to explore and step beyond the boundaries of design in today’s world. As Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
