THE ASK
Design a limited edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, by creating your own interpretation of the story into visual form: to a particular audience, representing particular themes from the novel. Your publication will have a unique book cover designed to represent the essence of the story, geared towards your audience and feature the first chapter of the novel.
THE APPROACH
This featured first chapter of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland embraces the themes of fantasy and psychological drama. Psychodramas place emphasis on psychological elements dealing with themes such as abandonment, coming of age, denial, distorted sequences, and social issues; themes that are relevant in this book. Other themes addressed are time and adventure, as well as the juxtaposition between logic and absurdity, reality and dreams, and innocence and darkness. The communication goal, ‘the absurdity of dreams mirrors the logic of reality,’ represents the protagonist’s journey through the novel. The target audience for this limited edition due to its more serious tones is a mature adult audience between the ages of 18 to 50.
