THE ASK

Using isometric techniques take a conceptual approach to visual storytelling in order to create an isometric scene. Choose a title, theme, and concept for your story utilizing an object to serve as the basis of the story. Place the object on a platform and then divide the area into three distinct sections to convey three different actions associated with your story that will be enhanced with illustrations to tell your narrative.

THE APPROACH

This visual story is focused on the communication goal of ‘experience the magic in books’. The central object in this story is a bookstore which was created using rectangles and isometric scale and proportion then placed on a platform. The story is made up of three parts that is represented by the levels in the bookstore. The first level is dedicated to a mild engagement in books and features individuals purchasing and enjoying coffee both in the store and on the outside patio. The second action in this story is featured on the second level of the bookstore and represents a medium engagement with reading and enjoying books. The third action and level in the bookstore focuses on the magic of books, representing heavy engagement in reading. The open books on the floor represent the story that is being read, opening portals into worlds unknown. This represents the magic and adventure waiting to be had by readers everywhere. The books on the shelves are presented in a single colour red to create a focal point on the portal in each room which is represented by the windows and the individual bookshelves.
