THE ASK

To design a comprehensive motion package for a television network of your own creation. Choose a network and genre to work from and create a network name, description, and slogan to define both the network and its respective target audience that you will market to. Establish a logo system as well as customize stock and open source footage to enhance the brand message and utilize them in your composition as well design graphic animations, moving brand components, while animating graphics and typography and working with audio files within your composition.

THE APPROACH

The network for this broadcast package is titled Carved TV, a winter sports channel that focuses primarily on snowboarding. The name was created with the action in mind: carving of the snow. The channel utilizes winter programs that are featured in the mountains. The programs typically feature snowboarding but also extend to other winter sports such as skiing, must-visit chalets/resorts and any sport that can play on the name carved (such as ice hockey or skating). The slogan attached to this broadcast channel is “Meet us at the Mountains” reinforcing the description of the channel and the focus on snowboarding. This is also inviting the target audience to join the programming as well reestablishing the location of the activities and the purpose of the channel.

The primary target audience is 18-35 year olds and thus millennials that are passionate about snowboarding and winter sports. The target audience loves the excitement and adventure of spending the cold winter days in the mountains, and of the specific lifestyle and sport culture that snowboarding creates. This target audience can also extend to a greater age group that is 15-45. Attracting a younger audience that shares this passion for snowboarding and other winter activities as well as those between 35-45 years who have been actively involved in snowboarding for numerous years and love the thrill, adventure, and freedom that the mountains and its subsequent lifestyle provide.
